First Robotics Competition (FRC)
New World supports the growth and development of math and sciences in local schools through investments in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).

Since 2002, New World has provided financial support and mentorship to the Rappahannock Robotics team (339) at the Commonwealth Governor's School (CGS) in Stafford, Virginia. In 2006, we extended our support to the robotics team (2021) at Fredericksburg Academy (FA).

About the FRC Program:
Each January, FRC challenges high school student teams to design and build a robot to complete with teams across the country. FRC supplies the teams with a starter kit of parts and list of functions and tasks that the robot must perform. Within six weeks each team is required to design and build a robot that is ready for competition. In a fun and real-time environment, volunteers coach the students with the goal of strengthening their knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering as well as in teambuilding and project management.

During the six-week design and build period, New World technicians and engineers volunteer as mentors on evenings and weekends to help the teams successfully design and build operational robots.
